Reporting and Policy
Reporting
Student Reporting
The Federal Government has introduced a new A-E reporting system to be implemented in Australian schools. Avoca Beach Primary School will be changing to this new reporting system for the mid year reports for 2007. A note explaining the new reporting system, as implemented at Avoca Beach Primary School, was issued in the Term 2 Week 8 newsletter and can also be viewed below.

Policies
Welfare Policy
When parents enrol their children at Avoca Beach Public School they enter into a partnership with the school staff. This partnership is based on shared responsibility in creating in children an understanding of appropriate public behaviour. It depends on mutual respect with each partner supporting the decisions and responsibilities exercised by the others.

Homework Policy
Homework is designed to foster the development of the school—home partnership in the education of the child and also to meet the needs of each child’s learning potential. We aim to provide purposeful, creative learning experiences, which consolidate, extend and enrich the school’s program.
Generally, all pupils are expected to complete homework. However, if a parent communicates an objection to homework in principle, then that expectation will be waived. Their objection must be made annually in writing. Unless parents support the concept of homework then the school is unable to provide a homework program, which positively benefits pupils.

During Term 3 2006, a survey was conducted by Julie Edwards (ABPS Parent) to establish the views held by Year 1 parents and children with respect to homework. The results have been analysed and tabulated — Stage 1 Survey Results (PDF 35Kb)
